Deep in the sea lived a little fish called Marçal, whose scales were very special. They shone like tiny stars, making him different from the other fish. Many admired his sparkle, but some stayed away out of jealousy, and Marçal often felt lonely.
Even so, he had a generous heart. He dreamed of finding a way to use his light to help other sea creatures. One day, swimming through a dark part of the reef, he heard quiet crying. He followed the sound and found Glòria, a little shrimp trapped between two rocks. She could not free herself and was frightened by the darkness.
Marçal swam closer at once and lit up the little space. Now they could see how to move the stones and set Glòria free.
“You saved me, Marçal! I don’t know how to thank you!” she exclaimed, still full of emotion.
“The important thing is that you’re all right,” he replied with a shy, sincere smile.
Glòria hurried to tell the others what had happened. The news spread around the reef. Soon everyone knew that Marçal had more than beautiful scales: he was a kind friend too.
The fish began seeking his company. Some asked for help, while others simply wanted to spend time with him. Marçal felt less lonely and discovered the happiness of belonging to a group.
A light to help others
Over time he found many ways to use his glow. He guided fish who had become lost in the darkness and showed them the way home. When threatening creatures appeared, he shone brightly to frighten them away and protect the smaller animals.
During quieter moments he filled the reef with colourful reflections. The sea creatures gathered to watch, sharing happy times beneath his light.
One day, as he guided some lost little fish, an old, wise octopus came towards him.
“Marçal, what you are doing is very valuable. Your light has brought peace and happiness to our underwater world.”
The little fish was surprised.
“I only do what I can to help,” he answered modestly.
“And that is no small thing,” the octopus added. “Because of you, many have found a light when they did not know which way to go.”
For the first time, Marçal understood that his wish had come true. He had found a way to help with his glow. Now he also belonged to a great underwater family who valued his character, kindness and courage as well as his shining scales.
Stories of his adventures reached the farthest corners of the sea. They told of a little fish who helped without expecting anything in return. His example showed that someone’s beauty also lies in their actions and the way they treat others.
Little by little, the creatures of the reef began helping one another more. Marçal’s kindness had created new friendships and encouraged everyone to share what they could offer.
And so he lived happily under the sea, lighting dark paths and brightening his friends’ hearts. He had discovered that even someone small can do great things with a generous heart.
