Colouring pages to print
A creative activity for children
Our colouring pages give children a chance to have fun, experiment with colour and make something of their own. At Racó de Contes, you can explore free printable pictures for activities at home, at school or in a children’s group. Choose a picture, gather your pencils and let imagination guide the result.
Which colouring pages can you find?
The gallery brings together characters, animals and scenes on different themes. Browse the whole collection or follow the links on this page to explore a particular subject.
- Story characters and scenes: pictures to accompany a story and help children remember its characters.
- Animals and nature: designs for recognising shapes, noticing details and inventing colour combinations.
- Christmas: pictures for seasonal activities and homemade decorations.
- Mandalas for kids: patterns and shapes to colour at your own pace.
What can children practise while colouring?
Colouring is a simple activity that can suit different ages and interests. Enjoying the process matters more than producing a perfect picture.
Hand coordination and fine motor skills
Holding a pencil, changing colours and following shapes gives children an opportunity to practise hand movements and hand-eye coordination. Offer age-appropriate materials and let each child progress at their own pace.
Attention and patience
Choosing one part of a picture and working on it encourages children to notice details and spend time on a task. Begin with short sessions and allow breaks whenever they need them.
Imagination and creativity
An animal can be blue and a tree can have rainbow leaves. There is no single correct way to colour a picture: experimenting with combinations and techniques is part of the fun.
Expression and conversation
Talking about the colours or inventing a story for a picture creates an opportunity to share ideas. Listen to what a child wants to say without treating their colour choices as a diagnosis of their feelings.
How to save and print the pictures
These are printable pictures for colouring on paper. You do not need to colour them on a screen.
- Browse the gallery and choose a picture you like.
- Click its image to open a larger version.
- Save the image to your device or use your browser’s print option.
- Check the print preview, select a suitable orientation and fit the image to the paper.
- Gather coloured pencils, crayons or felt-tip pens and start colouring.
On a phone, open the image and save it using your device’s options. You can then send it to a compatible printer. An adult can help with saving and printing.
Ideas for enjoying colouring pages
- Try different materials: choose pencils, crayons or felt-tip pens that suit the paper and the child’s age.
- Leave room for experiments: encourage invented colours, backgrounds and extra details without requiring children to copy a model.
- Share the activity: everyone can colour a picture and put their creations together in a display.
- Connect pictures with reading: make up a short story about the character or animal in the picture.
- Value the process: ask which part they enjoyed and display their work if they want to share it.
Choose your favourite colouring pages and enjoy a calm, creative activity. Print the same picture again to try different colours, or explore the other collections at Racó de Contes.
