In an enchanted forest, where sunlight played among the leaves and streams murmured in the fresh air, lived a little bird called Lluc. He was lively and cheerful, with feathers as bright as precious stones. But he had one problem that worried him very much: he did not know how to build a nest.
The other birds seemed to be experts. They used twigs, leaves, straw and blades of grass to make safe, cosy homes high in the trees. Lluc tried again and again, but each attempt ended in a jumble of sticks.
One morning, as he struggled with another nest, Marta the blackbird appeared. She had a gentle, comforting song, and when she saw his trouble she decided to help.
“Hello, Lluc! Watch how I weave these twigs together, carefully and slowly,” she sang.
Lluc watched closely as Marta worked. But when he tried to copy her, the twigs slipped from his feet. The harder he tried, the more frustrated he became, until he felt very sad indeed.
Later that day, wandering through the forest, he met Pep, a strong and skilful woodpecker. His tapping echoed among the trees. Noticing Lluc’s sadness, Pep offered to help.
“Come along! I’ll show you how to hold the thicker branches firmly,” he said in his calm voice.
Despite this advice, Lluc still could not make a nest that stayed together. With a heavy heart, he flew to the highest part of the forest, where Nina the wise barn owl lived.
A nest of his own
Nina listened carefully to his story. After a moment’s thought, she said:
“Every bird has a different way of doing things. You don’t need to build exactly like everyone else. Use what you have learnt and mix it with your own ideas.”
Encouraged by her words, Lluc decided to try again. This time he added things he loved: flower petals for decoration, soft leaves for comfort and one of his own feathers as a special finishing touch.
Patiently and lovingly, he wove the twigs together. He used what Marta had shown him and remembered how Pep held the larger pieces. Little by little, the pile of sticks became a real home.
After many hours of work, his nest was finished. It was a little work of art, full of colour and as cheerful and creative as Lluc himself.
The forest birds flew around it, amazed by its beauty and originality. Lluc felt proud of his effort. He had discovered that he could learn from others while still being himself.
From then on, he helped the younger birds. He taught them to build carefully and find their own way of doing things, without being afraid of differences.
Lluc lived happily in his colourful home, surrounded by friends. He had learnt that patience, help and determination could carry him through a difficult task.
His story reminds us that everyone is unique. Listening to others and trusting our own ideas can help us create wonderful things.
