It was a bright summer day, and Camp Happiness was full of children ready to enjoy their holidays. Many exciting activities awaited them: games, walks, craft workshops and, best of all, new friendships.
Among the children were Anna, a creative girl who loved adventures, and Marc, who used a wheelchair and always had an enormous smile. Anna had never met anyone who used a wheelchair before. She felt a little nervous, but she was determined to make new friends.
On the first day, they began with a ball game. Marc surprised everyone with his skill at throwing and catching. Curious, Anna went over to speak to him.
“Hello, Marc! I’m Anna. I’d really like to play with you,” she said with a smile.
“Hi, Anna! I’d love us to play together!” Marc replied eagerly.
They started playing and soon became an unstoppable team. Marc was wonderfully skilful, and Anna discovered how well they worked together. It was the beginning of a great friendship.
Over the following days, they shared all sorts of activities. At the craft workshops, Marc taught Anna to make paper aeroplanes that flew incredibly high. On walks, Anna helped when the path became difficult, while Marc always found a creative way to keep going.
The other children noticed how much fun Anna and Marc were having and wanted to join in. Joan, a wonderful storyteller, told an adventure in which every child was a hero. Carla, a fast runner, helped organise a race that everyone could take part in, including Marc in his wheelchair.
At the end of camp, they held a big party to celebrate all their adventures. Marc and Anna thanked their friends for sharing such special moments.
Anna learned that having friends with different abilities and experiences made their activities richer and every moment even more special. Everyone understood that their differences made them unique, and that playing, talking and sharing with one another made life happier and fuller.
And so summer at Camp Happiness was a great success, filled with new friends, unforgettable adventures and an important lesson about friendship and inclusion.
