One sunny spring day, Pau received a very special present for his sixth birthday: a pair of brightly coloured acrobatic roller skates. They were red and blue, with lights that flashed whenever the wheels turned. Pau was so excited that he wanted to try them straight away.

After breakfast, his mother helped him put on his skates and helmet, and together they went to the park opposite their house. Children were running, playing ball and enjoying the sunshine. A little nervous but very excited, Pau began to skate.

At first he moved slowly and unsteadily, holding his mother’s hand. Little by little, he grew more comfortable on his wheels. He learnt to move forwards, brake gently and even make a few small turns.

After a while, some children playing nearby came over to see his skates. They were amazed by the flashing lights and by how quickly Pau was learning to move.

“Would you like to play with us?” asked a girl holding a ball.

Pau smiled and nodded. They made up a game in which he skated to collect the ball and pass it to the others. With every turn, he felt more confident and his movements became more agile.

Time flew, and soon it was lunchtime. Pau and his mother went home, where he excitedly told his family how he had learnt to skate and made new friends.

But the real adventure was still to come. That afternoon he discovered a skating park nearby. With his mother’s permission, he went back with his grandfather to explore it.

The park was full of children and teenagers doing tricks on their skates. Pau watched in amazement, dreaming of the day he could do the same. An older boy who looked very experienced noticed his interest and skated over.

“Hello! Would you like to learn a few tricks?” he asked with a friendly smile.

“Yes!” said Pau, unable to hide his excitement.

Patiently, the boy showed him how to make a small jump. Pau practised again and again. He fell a few times, but always got back up, more determined than before. After many attempts, he finally managed his first skating jump. His heart leapt with happiness, and his skates seemed to flash more brightly than ever.

As the sun began to set, Pau and his grandfather went home. That evening Pau could not stop talking about his skates and all the tricks he hoped to learn. His grandfather gave him a hug.

“I’m very proud of you, Pau. You’ve learnt so much today, and you’ve been very brave.”

Pau went to bed dreaming of skates and spins, knowing he could learn a little more every day. And in his dreams he and his grandfather kept skating together, exploring new worlds full of adventures and challenges.
