Many years ago, in a town called Periodic Table, lived many chemical elements.
This town was full of life. All the elements worked their magic in their own way, each with a different power, and their houses were neatly squared. They lived side by side and were always together. In this town, there was much talk about two elements: Hydrogen and Oxygen.
Hydrogen was small and had a twin. Oxygen, on the other hand, was older and liked to wander around the town and see everything that was going on. They had a friend named Helium, whom they had recently discovered, and they always played together.
One day, while they were playing, Helium whispered a secret to Oxygen:
“Do you know what? If you hold hands with Hydrogen and his twin, something very special will happen, something that will change the lives of the entire town!”
After Helium revealed this secret, Oxygen went to find Hydrogen as quickly as he could to find out what would happen.
Once the three of them (the two Hydrogens and Oxygen) were together, they held hands, and suddenly, a bright light surrounded them, and magic dust began to swirl around them. Hydrogen, his twin, and Oxygen transformed into a drop of water!
Wow! The whole town was amazed.
The three friends realized they could create water every time they held hands. It was incredible, so they decided to form a group of magical friends who would always walk together through the town and bring water to all the plants and animals so they would never go thirsty again.
Some friends told them what the three of them could do.
And from that day on, Hydrogen and Oxygen learned that when friends get together they can do incredible and magical things, but it was even better than magic—it was science.
And that is how this story ends.
Each water molecule is made up of three atoms of two chemical elements: two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom (H₂O).
Water is very important for the planet and its inhabitants, being essential for life. For drinking, for cleaning, for watering plants…
Water is life!!!
