Llorenç lived in a small village, where the streets were full of children playing and riding their bicycles back and forth. He had long dreamed of having one, but his family couldn’t afford to buy him one.
One day, his grandfather said to him:
“Llorenç, if you want a bicycle, you’ll have to earn it. By working little by little, you’ll be able to get one.”
So, Llorenç began doing small jobs around the village: he helped a neighbor carry her groceries, raked leaves in the school garden, and even washed glasses at his uncle’s café.
Every time he earned a coin, he would tuck it away in a small box. His friends already had bicycles and would race along the paths, but Llorenç didn’t give up.
One day, Llorenç counted his savings and realized he had almost enough! He went to the bicycle shop and, with a big smile, said:
“I’d like to buy that red bicycle!”
The shopkeeper, who knew how hard he had worked, gave him a small discount—and at last, Llorenç had his bicycle!
That afternoon, he went out for a ride with his friends and felt the wind on his face. But the best part wasn’t the bicycle itself; it was knowing that he had earned it through his own effort and patience.
From that day on, whenever he wanted something, Llorenç knew exactly what to do: work hard and never give up.
