In a little village surrounded by green mountains and fields full of flowers lived a very curious rabbit called Pepet. He was always eager to discover new things and have exciting adventures.
One day, while hopping through the forest, he heard a strange noise, accompanied by smoke and bursts of colour. He had never heard anything like it before.
“What could that noise be?” Pepet wondered, his eyes wide open.
He followed the sound until he reached a clearing, where he saw Maria the eagle. She was preparing a large bonfire, and there were piles of brightly coloured fireworks nearby.
“Hello, Maria! What is all this?” asked Pepet, growing more fascinated by the moment.
“Hello, Pepet!” the eagle said with a smile. “It is our Midsummer celebration, on St John’s Eve. It is a magical night when we welcome summer. We light bonfires and set off fireworks to drive away bad spirits and fill the night with light and joy!”
Pepet felt a warm glow in his heart. He had never heard of such a wonderful celebration.
“Why do we burn things in the fire?” he wanted to know.
“The bonfires help us leave old things behind and begin again with hope and excitement,” Maria explained. “It is like a fresh start for nature and for us!”
Pepet decided to help prepare the celebration. He ran to find his friends: Fina the fox, Oriol the owl and Lluís the hedgehog. Together they went to the clearing to get everything ready.
On St John’s Eve, the sky was a sea of stars, and the air smelled of flowers and damp earth. The forest animals gathered around the bonfire, their faces lit by its flickering glow.
When the fireworks began, the sky filled with colours and sparks that danced like fairies in the darkness.
“Wow!” cried Pepet. “This is magical!”
Maria laughed happily.
“It certainly is, Pepet. St John’s Eve is a night for dreaming, celebrating life and friendship, and enjoying the magic inside us.”
That night, Pepet and his friends shared moments they would never forget, surrounded by light, colour and laughter. Ever since, they have looked forward to the Midsummer celebration each year, their hearts full of hope and excitement.
And that is the story of Pepet the rabbit and the magical Midsummer celebration.
