Once upon a time, there was a young man called Peter who was known throughout his village for seeming afraid of nothing. He lived with his family in a little house at the foot of a mountain. From an early age, he had shown both courage and curiosity.

Peter was tall and strong, with fair hair and bright eyes that reflected his adventurous spirit. Neither fierce animals nor powerful storms frightened him. He was always ready to explore forests, caves and mountains.

One day, he heard about an enchanted castle. People said it held wonderful treasures, but also dangers, strange creatures and wandering spirits. No one in the village had dared to enter.

Peter decided to visit the castle and discover its secrets. Before he left, his mother gave him a cloak to keep out the cold and a little bag of food.

The journey was difficult. He crossed thick woodland, heard the cries of night creatures and glimpsed mysterious shadows among the trees. Yet each new challenge only made him more curious.

At last, he reached the castle. Its towers rose high above grey walls covered in ivy. The great door stood ajar, almost as though it had been waiting for him. Peter stepped inside.

His first trial lay in a hall whose floor was covered with snakes. They were magical creatures belonging to the castle’s enchantment. Remembering the calm his grandfather had taught him, Peter walked forward steadily. The enchanted snakes moved aside and let him pass.

Next, he entered a room where a ghost was crying. Instead of running away, he asked what was wrong. The ghost explained that it had lost a much-loved jewel.

Peter promised to help. After searching the room, he found the jewel beneath a loose stone in the floor. When he returned it, the ghost smiled gratefully and vanished. A secret door swung open.

Beyond it was a great torchlit chamber. Gold coins, shining jewels and precious objects lay on a table. But what caught Peter’s eye was an ancient sword that seemed to be made of light.

As he lifted it, the chamber filled with brightness, and a deep voice spoke.

“For your courage and kindness, I grant you the power of this sword. It will protect you on your travels.”

Warmth filled Peter’s heart. He had been rewarded not only for daring to enter, but also for stopping to help.

He returned to the village with the treasure and the magical sword. Everyone welcomed him joyfully. Peter shared the riches to help his neighbours, and they remembered him as the adventurer who had uncovered the enchanted castle’s secrets.

His story showed that courage means more than facing danger. It also means caring about others and choosing to help. Peter’s truest bravery lay in his kind heart and generous actions.
